About the Event
People have been weaving natural materials into useful and beautiful items for thousands of years. Come and join us for an evening of this ancient craft as we employ our hands (and secateurs) in creating our own unique willow snail. This is a relatively simple project suitable for beginners and also those with some experience of working with willow.
Mark has been a Forest School leader since 2006 and has a background in conservation, youth work and bushcraft. He currently works with a variety of groups: Primary, Secondary, Home-Ed, a Dementia Wellbeing Group and training adults.
For those wanting to join in the fun on the night - please bring along:
- Secateurs
- Bodkin or screwdriver
- String/wire
- Water sprayer (to keep willow damp whilst working it)
- 7 lengths of 5ft Willow - such as Buff Willow - Must be pre-soaked and mellowed beforehand.  Useful link for soaking and mellowing tips:  https://www.musgrovewillows.co.uk/buff-willows-soaking-times
